Trekking From Shilku

Death Curse Day 42

We headed out from Shilku at a normal pace. This took us pas the Temple of Gond along a well-worn path that had been made by the dwarves. Musharib led us into the mountainous terrain where we past by lots of dead explorers. One, in particular, stood out. Checking the mouldering remains more closely, we saw a human corpse bearing the markings of the Flaming Fist mercernary company. It did not appear that he had been dead for very long, but that he likely fell from a high ridge and broke his leg. Among his personal effects were found several awards, ribbons, and medals (from jousting competitions). We discovered his name was Sgt. Worben on an award marking his 20th consecutive win. Looks like he won't be winning anymore since he appeared to be about 3 months dead.

Death Curse Day 43

No encounters of note, though Musharib took over as guide (navigator).

Death Curse Day 44
Continued with the same roles and, though we got lost along the way, there were no encounters today.

  • Salves used: 5
  • Incense used: 1
  • Rations used: 0 (gained the same amount through foraging that we consumed)

Death Curse Day 45

Musharib continued to get us lost, but the foraging was still good (plenty of goats in the mountains).

  •     Rations used: 0 (gained the same amount through foraging that we consumed)

Death Curse Day 46

Finally had a successful attempt at navigation. Being that close to the shoreline certainly helped. We ended up on a beach where we circled around past a beached black whale that was infested with huge horse flys

Death Curse Day 47

Musharib is starting to show signs of being a not-so-competent guide. We think he's so focused on finding Hrakhamar that he's losing site of the path we need to follow to get there. Thankfully, we found lots of fruit to stave off the loss of rations. Kinda tasty.

  • Salves used: 5
  • Incense used: 1
  • Rations used: 0 (gained the same amount through foraging that we consumed)

Death Curse Day 48

Maybe Musharib can do some good as a guide after all. We seem to have found the entrance to the mines that we can trek through to find an underground passage that should connnect to Hrakhamar. We're setting up a small camp to get some rest before we attempt to enter the mine.

Plot twist: We were spotted by the dragon Tinder while we camped. Nearly toasted the party. As it stands, the dragon managed to destroy a canoe, 29 rations, 29 salves, and 29 pieces of incense. This certainly put a dent into our supplies. We'll need to take stock of the situation so we know how much we have left going forward. Musharib is insistent that once Tinder attacked us, she flew north and will be gone several days for hunting.

Death Curse Day 49

Now that we've had a chance to greet the morning sun once more, our burns we sustained the previous night seem much more manageable. It's time to enter the Wyrm Heart Mine. Musharib warns us that the kobolds will still be in the mine even though the dragon has gone on a hunt. Approaching the mine, we found two buildings flanking the mouth of the mine. We checked out one and then the other. Among the effects, we found word that some dwarves were left behind in the mine, that they wouldn't leave. Contact was lost with them. These records date back around 120 years ago. We also found supplies but not food. Looked like the kobolds tried to break into the buildings but couldn't get past the door. We took some torches, rope, and pitons.

Now we enter the mine.
